AMA Conference

Wow…another weekend and another music conference. This time it was the Americana Music Association Conference in Nashville. I’m about as over socialized as I get. Had a great time, heard some good music and met lots of new people….but kind of in overload mode.

Where to start…Pedal steel wiz/Iowa native Eric Heywood(Son Volt) and his wife/partner Kristin Mooney stayed with us for their Sin City showcase…You should check out Kristin Mooney…her new CD has some songs that make me weepy. At this Sin City showcase Steve Earle got up and did Dead Flowers badly in my not so humble opinion…Sorry Steve, luv ya but it was bad.

Met some nice folks(Eric & Paige) from Catamount Records based right here in East Nashville. Eric was one of the founders of Bloodshot Records and they put on a couple fun little music wing-dings. Lucky 57, Ben Weaver, Otis Gibbs and Hayseed were part of their shows…good to see Ben again.

Finally, I caught up with Joe Swank from Yep Roc Records and we whooped it up some before hitting the wall. And on the seventh day we rested….

I’ll be doing my first little Nashville club gig this week as a trio with Teddy Morgan and Richard Medek at the Radio Cafe. Pretty low-keyed thang but ya gotta do something right?

Goodnight Irene….
