So it’s raining in Indy today as I roll the birth year odometer over to #46. My mother tells me when I was born in 1968, it was also a rainy day in Iowa. Feels like Spring is coming now. Smells green.

I have a really fun show coming up this month April 19th in Iowa City. I will be opening for Bo Ramsey who is doing a rare band show. And lucky me will also have Dave Moore sitting in on accordion and harp for my duo set. Been thinking lately on how truly lucky I have been coming from my music rich Iowa City hometown. As I was coming up and getting into music, I had four Iowa guys as mentors/examples of different paths in music. Bo Ramsey, Greg Brown, Dave Moore and Joe Price have all achieved different levels of “success” and acclaim, but I consider them all masters of their sound crafts. I do think every songwriter/musician has their own unique path, but I can’t imagine having that original passion sparked without these great Iowa influences lighting the way. April 19th should be a special night at The Mill. Get your tickets at The Mill

In other musical news, I’m going to release a new vinyl album and CD sometime this year! The Hollywood TV Gods have been kind in funding my latest recordings, which has become my grown-up mandate for releasing physical copies of music in this increasingly digitally devalued music age. I’m very grateful to be able to keep writing/recording in the black. No release date yet, but John Svec and I are slowly plugging away on this next big music project.

That’s about all I have for you today. Appreciate all the nice wishes and comments on facebook, twitter and instagram. Very grateful to still be breathing and above ground at 46:)

Thanks for checking in.
